Stoke by Nayland Hotel near Colchester boasts two 18 hole championship golf courses offering some of the best golfing facilities in the East of England. The club is a regular venue for Pro-Ams, County and national and international Championships.

Stoke Park’s golf course was opened in July 1908 and received instant acclaim. The course, known as Stoke Poges, has stood the test of time and has been listed by Golf World magazine as being one of the “Top 100 Courses in the World”. The club boasts a true 27 hole course; made up of three nine hole courses.

Donnington Valley’s stunning 18 hole, par 71 golf course was re-designed and lengthened between 1998 and 2000.  It is described as a challenging course, particularly the last 4 holes, where water features prominently.

Bovey Castle’s 18 hole championship golf course was designed by JF Abercromby in 1926 and has been named one of the top 100 golf courses in Britain. The course has been described as “an experience of golf never to be forgotten” due to its challenging course which meanders through the Castle estate.

Stapleford Park’s spacious and peaceful golf course meanders through the 500 acre park, with stunning views of the stately home and Capability Brown designed  landscape. With it’s Scottish-style revetted bunkers, grassy humps and hollows there is something to challenge even the most seasoned golfer.

Telford Hotel & Golf Resort’s championship course is set in 170 acres of tree-lined parkland. Aldwark Manor’s par 72 golf course is set in 120 acres of pleasant parkland. There are many interesting features on this course including some rare and mature trees, water hazards and a number of the fairways meander through and intertwine with the River Ure.

Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort’s 27 hole golf course is one of the country’s premier venues, offering 10,000 yards of championship golf. The three nine hole courses twist and turn through the impressive pines and majestic heathland. The greens are true and firm and the course has gained a reputation as one of the UK’s must play courses.

Cardrona’s 72 par championship golf course was designed by former Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas in 2001.  The golf course matured quickly and has hosted the 2004 and 2007 Euro Pro tour and the 2007 and 2008 European Challenge Tour. Cardrona attracts golfers from all over the world.

The Westerwood’s 18 hole golf course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and Dave Thomas and is claimed to be one of the best golf courses to have opened in Scotland in recent years. The challenging par-72 layout is stretched through firs and silver birches and  overlooks the Kilsyth and Campsie Hills.

The Vale Hotel Golf & Spa Resort boasts two Championship golf courses making it  one of the most desirable golf courses in Wales. The resort is set in 600 acres of beautiful Welsh countryside, and the golf course was designed to be a challenging test for even the lowest of handicaps. The 7,413 yard course is one of the longest golf courses outside the USA.
